Judul : Basic Natural Sciences in Higher Education, Is it still relevant and needed?
Abstrak :

Nowadays, some of higher education institutions have eliminated Ilmu Alamiah Dasar (IAD) as a common subject, both for MIPA and nonMIPA student; even it is a compulsory subject that should be a part of curriculum. Why the IAD is nearly disappears from the orbit?

The study was tried to explore the factors caused, and try solving what is the better   action to rebuild the lecture. The result shows, there are some factor caused the lecture deleting from curriculum, such as student didn’t interest to the subject because of the lack of impact to their major subject. The student also didn’t like the way how is lecturer teach (too much expository teaching, less media, less interactive), and too much subject matter. The other finding based on observation and lecturer interview, is that the less of teaching methodology of lecturer, too focused on subject (subject focused), and also because of limitation to understand the curriculum.  Even though, respondents are agreed it is still relevant and needed, so we suggest making reorientation of the lecture to make it match with the vision, mission, and goals. It should be done soon, for example through the lecture remodeling.
