Judul : Antibacterial Activity of Ocimum citridorum leaf ekstraks Against Shigella dysentriae
Abstrak :

Dysentery is a disease caused by infection with Shigella dysentriae, one type of acute diarrhea can be seen from the liquid stool mixed with blood and mucus caused by these bacteria. Ocimum citriodorum leaves contain various chemical compounds that can inhibit the growth of bacteriae that cause diarrhea. This study aims to determine the antibacterial activity of O. citriodorum leaves against S. dysentriae by stratified extraction. O. citriodorum leaves were extracted using n-hexane, ethyl acetate, ethanol 96% as solvent. Testing the Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) on bacteriae at a concentration of 2.5, 5, 10, 15% using the agar dilution method. Inhibition Width (IZW) at a concentration of 15, 25, 30% using the disc paper diffusion method. The positive control used was ciprofloxacin against S. dysentriae bacteria and the negative control used was DMSO 10%. The results showed that the extract of n-hexane, ethyl acetate and ethanol 96% of O. citriodorum leaves had antibacterial activity against S. dysentriae. The most effective MIC of n-hexane, ethyl acetate, ethanol extract 96% of basil leaves was found at a concentration of 15%. IZW ethanol 96% extract of O. citriodorum leaves has most effective antibacterial activity among other solvents at a concentration of 30 % with an IZW value of 9.83 mm against S. dysentriae bacteria.
