Judul : PENGGUNAAN â€˜ENVIRONMENTAL MEDIAâ€™ DALAM MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN MENULIS TEKS DESKRIPTIF SISWA TUNARUNGU

Abstrak :
ABSTRACT

The study which was done to seven deaf students of the eight grade has the aim of showing the use of ‘environmental’ as the media to teach them descriptive text. Environmental is one of teaching media which could be used by the teacher to help the students to write descriptive text. Classroom action research was applied as the method of the research with two cycles, and each cycle has three treatments. The data were collected from observation, and documentation. The observation was used to figure out the teaching process that involve the students, and the documentation in form of written works was used to measure their ability to write descriptive text. The pre-test scores showed that that the lowest mark was 55, and the highest was 83. After the environmental media was applied in the first cycle, there were increasing marks in which the lowest mark became 65, and the highest was 93. The cycle was continued to the second one with the result that the lowest mark is 67 (fair), and the highest one is 99 (excellent). Looking at the increasing marks, it could be said that the use of environmental media increases deaf students ability to write descriptive.
